CAF Champions League News
A thunderous Teboho Mokoena strike in first-half stoppage time sealed Mamelodi Sundowns' second CAF Champions League title as they drew 1-1 away at AS FAR at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, clinching a 2-1 aggregate final win.
Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Rabat to defend their 1-0 lead on Sunday in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.
Portuguese coaches Sundowns' Miguel Cardoso and AS FAR's Alexandre Santos say their CAF achievements are not being widely celebrated in their home country, as they feel people underestimate the challenge of coaching in Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso said that keeping calm, despite the VAR issues which delayed the second half of the CAF Champions League final first leg, was vital for Africa's footballing image.
Miguel Cardoso has insisted that Mamelodi Sundowns will stick to their usual enterprising style of football in the CAF Champions League final second leg as they look to defend a 1-0 lead against AS FAR in Rabat on Sunday (May 24).
